CSI Certification:
Knowledge is Everything
CSI professional credentials are recognized throughout the industry
as evidence of a proven level of education, knowledge and experience
in construction documents. CSI Certification is a benchmark
of technical knowledge. These credentials demonstrate professional
commitment, credibility and reliability to employers, colleagues
and clients. The CSI Certificate/Certification programs are
CDT, CCS, CCCA, CCPR. MORE
BENEFITS
Each certification designation requires the successful completion
of a comprehensive multiple choice examination based on a core
body of knowledge drawn from the Project Resource Manual and
other sources. The CDT is one of the prerequisite for the CCS,
CCCA, and CCPR exams. Exams are held at local testing sites
in spring 2010 and fall 2011 and at the Institute Convention
(Construct2010)
REGISTRATION
and payment for the exam is handled by the institute (CSI National).

MATERIALS are not included in the examination fee, but are
available for purchase through CSI, AIA, and EJCDC member organizations
THE CHICAGO CHAPTER OFFERS A STUDY CLASS in preparation for
the CDT Exam. The Project Resource Manual will be offered at
a discount to those enrolled in the class. Registration and
payment for the study class is handled through the Chicago Chapter.
CSI Certifications
Construction Documents
Technology (CDT) Program
- Provides a comprehensive overview for anyone who writes, interprets,
enforces, or manages construction documents. It is recommended
for project architects, contractors, contract administrators,
material suppliers, and manufacturers’ representatives.
- Is a lifetime certification--does not have to be renewed
- This is the prerequisite for future certifications (CCS,
CCA, CCPR)
- CDT candidates are expected to demonstrate their knowledge
and understanding of the core stages of a typical construction
project cycle, the types of documents produced in each project
phase, and the relationship between the project participants
- New topics to be incorporated in the 2010 exam: Building
Information Modeling (BIM), Integrated Project Delivery (IPD)
, Green Building - GreenFormat™ and Sustainability
THE CHICAGO CHAPTER OFFERS A CDT EXAM STUDY CLASS
Certified Construction Specifer (CCS)
- Recommended for contractors, architects, engineers, facility
managers, owners and other design professionals with responsibility
for preparing construction specifications
- Candidates are expected to demonstrate their knowledge of
the methods of contractor selection, the contract types, the
differences in relationships among the parties in different
situations and the different forms of contracts in regard to
basic payment
Certified Contract Administrator (CCCA)
- Recommended for contractors, design professional, engineers,
facility managers, owners and other professionals with responsibility
for executing contract documents
- Candidates are expected to demonstrate their knowledge of
the various types of construction contracts, how construction
contract administration is affected by each type of contract;
and how the roles and responsibilities of the owner, contractor
and A/E change with each delivery method
Certified Construction Product Representative
(CCPR)
- Recommended for manufacturer and product representatives,
material suppliers, distributors and independent representatives
- Candidates are expected to demonstrate their knowledge and
understanding of their role in the decisions made in respect
to the product selection process, construction documents preparation,
bidding/negotiating/purchasing process and during construction

CDT, CCS, CCPR, CCCA Examination at over 400+ testing sites
nationally. |
Candidates register for the exam through CSI and choose the date
and time to take the exam from approximately 400 Prometric test
sites in cities throughout the US. Scores will be reported within
minutes of completing the exam.
Candidates who do not pass a spring exam are still eligible to
register again in the fall, but the only exam study course offered
by the chapter is in January 2010.

or the Chicago Chapter Study course.
The Chicago Chapter offers a SPECIAL
CDT MEMBERSHIP PACKAGE for nonmembers who join CSI and the
Chicago Chapter before January 29, 2010. This is a 20% discount
on Institute dues, the CDT, exam and the Project Resource Manual
(PRM) when purchased together.
Chicago Chapter CDT Exam Study Classes
In preparation for the March 29– April
3, 2010 Exam, the Chicago Chapter is offering CDT study classes
starting Tuesday, January 5 and running 11 consecutive Tuesdays.
Each class will be taught by various professionals and a beverage
will be provided by sponsors. Although these classes are in preparation
for the Certification exam, they may also be valuable for those
interested the knowledge gained. Class size is limited and priority
will be given to members.
